Check out this quiz that columnist Tara Parker-Pope of the New York Times put together—based on THE UNTHINKABLE. I actually always wanted to do a quiz like this, but I never got around to it. So thanks, Tara! It’s a really lovely way to kill 10 minutes.
Topic for next book: Why does the human brain love quizzes so much? What is it about quizzes? And how is it related to our lust for Top 10 lists?

Amanda,
In the question on where you get your news from, you left out Radio.
It is my main source of news along with the internet as I do not watch
TV or read newspapers. And there are a lot of folks like me who listen to the radio for several hours each day like your interview with Ian tonight.

I finished your book yesterday afternoon — otherwise I certainly wouldn’t have scored 10/11 today on this quiz. Thank you, Amanda, for a terrific achievement. Not only is it a great read, it’s also a powerful weapon in today’s climate of fear. The more people know, the less helpless we feel. And feeling helpless, as you point out, can lead to some dreadful outcomes.
With luck, “The Unthinkable” may help change the mindset of those who still believe the less we know, the better.

That was a good quiz- (I got a miserly 3/11)! I think Amand Ripley’s Unthinkable is a must read if this is a sample we are going to read there!! We are all so cocooned in our comfortable lives that we go absolutely berserk when faced with some catastrophe and I feel “Unthinkable” is just what we need to keep our heads firmly on our shoulders and face the calamity whatever it may be!! This is definitely going to be a priority of “must reads’!
